When the Mike LeDonne Trio traveled to Vancouver to record their superb Cellar Live album, “Speak” in December 2012, Steve Kaldestad invited these 3 masters to stay in town for one more day to record this swinging album, Steve’s second as a leader. With a relaxed, informal vibe in the familiar confines of Cory Weeds’ Cellar Jazz Club, things really ‘clicked’ and the session resulted in some very swinging music being captured. A mixture of familiar jazz standards and originals, this is some burning straight ahead jazz, Straight Up.
